Learners on the Go with Technology in Tow? No Problem!
With all of the activity that occurs throughout the day in our classroom as we explore, create, and make within all areas of learning, it’s essential that our technology is protected to the fullest extent. As active participants, students leverage technology in meaningful ways by developing videos to capture their learning and then editing accordingly to share the best version of their final product. Additionally, as we deepen our understanding through STEAM exploration, learners capture moments to share out on Seesaw and collaborate in Google Classroom. It’s not uncommon to see children who are jumping with excitement to learn that their code for Sphero did just as they had planned or students pairing SamLabs with the Bluetooth of an iPad to create ‘curious cars’ that they can remotely drive around the room. All of these dynamic experiences require learners to be on the go – with technology in tow!
Fortunately, our classroom is equipped with Rug-Ed ProLOCK iPad cases that allow learners to maneuver their technology as they see fit, throughout the school day. Not only are our Rug-Ed cases designed with a handle for easy manipulation, but there is also a pop-up stand that meets the needs of learners who require the iPad to be in an upright, more stationary position. The stand has been favored by learners who are creating Slides for presentations in Google, developing their writing, and using various apps to demonstrate how to solve math problems interactively and engagingly using anything from Explain Everything or Book Creator where they can personalize their product and include voice over. As an added bonus, if by chance an iPad ever were to take an accidental fall, I stand by with ease and reassurance that the iPad is completely protected. After all, Rug-Ed’s service includes device repair if the iPad does break while under contract. The cases are designed with superior drop protection!
My students and I test many products and provide our honest feedback to companies so that they can improve their designs. Throughout the past year, we have been exploring different Rug-Ed case designs and time-and-time again, students comment on the functionality of the case because they can move and engage in learning more efficiently.
When looking into cases for iPads, simply looking at protection isn’t enough. Due to the nature of our classroom and the authentic hands-on learning that occurs, I also needed to explore which design allowed learners to be more flawless in their efforts. For example, are the cases causing a child to fumble, leading to an unstable video? Can it be propped up with the ease of a stand and adjusted for best usage? And, does the company offer options for device coverage?
Cases include key features such as:
- Locks in the device, clear back for asset tags, superior drop protection.
- Optional device repair coverage
- One case fits most (from iPad Air on). Most schools purchase more iPads every year, which means they potentially have different model iPads.
Fortunately, with Rug-Ed, their ProLOCK cases meet all of our needs pertaining to ease of use, protection, and options for device repair coverage. After all, Rug-Ed cases are designed for education deployments. This makes them the ideal product to ensure our students can engage in active learning as future-ready students.
